SHARING SPECIAL CEREMONY WITH 300 YOUTHS
Former Major Leaguer Elliott Maddox will be called to the Torah on
Monday, August 9, 2010 at 4:30 p.m. at the NJY Camps in Milford,
Pennsylvania, fulfilling his dream of becoming a Bar Mitzvah. Maddox,
who converted to Judaism in 1975, played 11 seasons in the majors,
including stints with both the New York Yankees and the New York Mets.
For the past six years Maddox has been an integral part of TSC (Total
Specialty Camp) Baseball at the NJY Camps, running special baseball
clinics in a program directed by his former Yankees teammate Ron
Blomberg. Blomberg will also speak at the Bar Mitzvah.
This event is not open to the public. Elliott Maddox will meet with members of the press before the ceremony.
